Before establishing your company’s social media, do some research! You don’t want to waste your time on a channel that your target market doesn’t use enough. Many sources, like Business Insider and Pew Research Center, give demographic reports on popular social media platforms. For example, if you want to reach an older population, don’t use Snapchat! 71% of those users are under 31 years old. Or if you’re trying to reach men, Pinterest might be a bad idea. Only 13% of Pinterest users are male. Be smart and act strategic – after all, this is marketing!
